3M™ Hookit™ D/F Low Profile Backup Pad is constructed of soft density foam with a blunt tapered edge. It has holes for dust control and is recommended for finishing applications on flat or contoured surfaces where dust evacuation is preferred. Use this disc pad with a 3M™ Hookit™ D/F disc using grade 220 and finer.

3M™ Hookit™ D/F Low Profile Backup Pad has a molded vacuum groove that allows a disc to be attached to the disc pad without having to align the holes of the disc with those of the disc pad. The soft density foam provides additional conformability and allows the disc to flex for longer abrasive life in loading applications. For dust extraction, use this disc pad with a 3M™ Hookit™ D/F disc and a random orbital sander with vacuum (both sold separately). Sandpaper discs cut better and last longer when dust isn’t loading the cutting surface of the abrasives. The multi-hole dust-management system uses a series of evenly-spaced holes in the abrasive that are aligned with the holes in the disc pad. Suction via a vacuum system is drawn through the holes to collect dust from the air and workpiece, for improved working conditions and disc performance. The 3M™ Hookit™ hook-and-loop feature makes disc attachment, removal, and re-attachment easy and facilitates use and re-use of the disc for the extent of the abrasive life. Hookit™ disc pads have J-shaped hooks of the type most commonly used in everyday hook-and-loop applications. Hookit disc pads grip the brushed nylon loop backings of 3M™ Hookit™ discs and provide a finer finish than do adhesive backed discs. The Hookit system is designed for work spaces where adhesive backed discs may become contaminated by dust, dirt, or flying debris. This disc pad can also be used with hook-and-loop discs from other manufacturers.
