3M™ Thinsulate™ Acoustic Insulation AUxx04-6

3M™ Thinsulate Acoustic Insulation AUXX04-06 Series is a non-woven, compressible, lightweight material and can be easily die-cut that is designed for excellent sound absorption in automotive applications.

It has improved absorption performance compared to current 3M™ Thinsulate™ Acoustic Insulation AU and TAI Series products at the same weight and thickness.  It is made of a web and a black scrim on one side; the web is composed of 38% recycled polyester staple fibers, and 62% polypropylene fibers. The polypropylene fibers are extremely fine, producing the high-energy absorption characteristic and is lightweigh. Polyester fibers are added to strengthen the web. The black scrim is a 100% polypropylene non-woven fabric. 3M Thinsulate Acoustic insulation AUXX-04-6 series is designed to consist of at least 30% recycled content. Typical applications include inside door panels, instrument panels, pillar trim, package trays, or wheel arch liner. Can be attached to trim panels by ultrasonic or heat spot welding. Adhesives (double sided pressure sensitive tapes or hot melt) may also be used for attachment. It can be processed by conventional techniques such as die-cutting and heat sealing. This material is also water repellent. 3M AUXX04-6 Series meets emission and odour requirements for most OEMs in EMEA. The material is not recommended for applications where temperatures will be continuously above 120°C Available in thicknesses from 9mm – 26mm.
