Scotch-Brite™ Ultra Fine Hand Pad 7448+ combines durability for long life, flexibility for reaching tight areas, and can be used in place of steel wool for conditioning metal surfaces and paint prep. Unlike fine steel wool, Scotch-Brite pads will not shred during use, rust after use, or leave fine metal splinters.
Use Scotch-Brite™ Ultra Fine Hand Pad 7448+ instead of fine steel wool, to condition metal surfaces and to prepare for painting. Our grey pads are designed to run cleaner and longer than steel wool and by comparison, will never shred during use, rust after use, or leave fine metal splinters. Scotch-Brite Ultra Fine pads are filled with tightly graded silicon carbide abrasive, a very sharp synthetic mineral that’s typically used for low-pressure applications such as paint preparation. The tightly graded particles deliver a consistent, uniform abrasive action for the entire lifespan of the pad and the mineral breaks down faster than aluminium oxide for a superior finish. They’re designed for ease of use, reaching into tight corners and intricate detailed surfaces, without changing the size of the base material. Use for cleaning, finishing and buffing with no need to adjust, turn over or replace the pad mid-task. An addition to any workshop toolbox, our versatile hand pads can be used manually, paired with a hand pad block, or run on an in-line sander for working faster on larger areas. Scotch-Brite abrasives are unique surface conditioning products, comprising of abrasives incorporated into non-woven nylon fibres. Combining abrasives and non-woven material creates an abrasive system that delivers consistent results for the entire lifespan of the pad. The open-web material runs cool and is load resistant, which keeps the abrasive minerals cutting at high performance by limiting clogging of the nylon fibres.
