The CABLEx exhibition is a chance for engineers and project managers from electricity utilities, rail and wind-power industries and their contractors as well as health and safety professionals to see the latest industry innovations in action.

Hosted by engineering consultancy group, EA Technology, the event is expected to attract some 500 industry professionals and will also feature a number of seminars covering topics such as the legal risks associated with underground cabling work and cable failure examination techniques.

In the demonstration den, 3M experts will show how Cold Shrink pre-stretched tubes can be used to safely join and terminate cables without needing tools, sealants, adhesives, torches or other heat sources.

Said product marketing manager for Electronics and Energy, Katherine Barnicoat: “Our Cold Shrink technology has been serving the industry for nearly 40 years and is now available for high voltage as well as low and medium voltage applications. As well as offering a safe solution for the industry, Cold Shrink is very simple to use, resulting in fewer installation errors.

“We will also be highlighting other 3M technologies aimed at the power cabling industry at CABLEx, including our locating and marker systems that use RFID technology to show where hidden assets are buried.”

3M is sponsoring the networking evening and barbecue to be held at the racecourse on 6 June. Added Katherine: “This should be a fun event and a chance for us to engage with key stakeholders in advance of the expo.”
