Textured and patterned surface enhancement film from the 3M DI-NOC range of architectural finishes has been used to give a luxury finishing touch to the Shangri-La Hotel in The Shard, the 95-storey skyscraper in London.
The Shard is the tallest building in West Europe and the five star hotel occupies floors 34 to 52. As part of the finishing touches, the architects wanted to create a special effect on the lift doors as well as in the lobby space and reception area that couldn't be achieved with standard metal.
Leading commercial graphics installer, Aura Graphics, was brought in to provide this and specified Brushed Bronze effect from the 3M DI-NOC material range.
Said senior marketing executive Pen Webley: "DI-NOC proved the perfect way to achieve the specified lavish five star effect. The Brushed Bronze decorative material was applied to the lift doors overnight, providing a quick and cost effective solution with minimum disruption."
DI-NOC is available in more than 500 patterns ranging from wood grains and stone effects to metals and leathers.
