Working for one of the world’s most ethical companies brings peace of mind to sales and marketing manager, Dave West, who has worked for 3M for more than 20 years.
In a previous role working for the company’s Safety and Security Division, Dave managed the integration of Rochford Thompson, a Berkshire-based manufacturer of passport readers acquired by 3M in 2007.
Says Dave: “This project gave me a real insight into how well 3M treats people. When one company is integrated with another, it can have a major impact on the lives of individuals and this is something that we carefully considered at every stage.
“We were open and honest with Rochford Thompson employees throughout the process and shared our plans with them at the first opportunity. Many of those who joined 3M through the acquisition are still with us today.
“Working for a company that is always fair and doesn’t compromise on areas such as business ethics and compliance means a lot to me and engenders loyalty. It means that even when I’m under pressure to deliver on targets or have tough decisions to make, I’m able to sleep well at night.”
Dave works closely with customers in his front line role and says that trust is a crucial factor in developing business relationships.
He adds: “Customers not only trust in our products, but in 3M employees as individuals too. We are always honourable in our dealings and go above and beyond in areas such as offering extended product warranties with no catches.
“Being recognised by Ethisphere as one of the most ethical companies in the world is a great honour for 3M and is something I’m very proud to be a part of.”
3M has been named as one of the world’s most ethical companies by Ethisphere for the third consecutive year. 3M joins just 131 industry giants, including Tata Steel, Ford Motor Company, Dell and Kellogg Company, to feature in the 2016 World’s Most Ethical Company list.
Ethisphere is a global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical practice in business and recognises companies that align principle with action, work tirelessly to make trust part of their corporate DNA and shape future industry standards.
